1. What stops you from walking or cycling more to and on these streets? Where are the issues?

Speed - cars often too quick. Parking opposite bright stars at pick-up/drop off makes the oakfield/Somerset road junction really difficult to negotiate

2. How can these streets be made more attractive for walking and cycling for everyone? Where are the Opportunities?

Speed mitigation on Somerset road, 20mph limit.

1. What stops you from walking or cycling more to and on these streets? Where are the issues?

Too much vehicular traffic. Too many cars driving up and parking on the pavement! No respect for residents.

2. How can these streets be made more attractive for walking and cycling for everyone? Where are the Opportunities?

Close streets to local traffic only during pickup/dropoffs.

3. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about travel to and in the area?

For a supposedly walkable town, it is very hostile to pedestrians. Very few zebra crossing/crosswalks. Why are there no/few zebra crossings on school streets?

1. What stops you from walking or cycling more to and on these streets? Where are the issues?

I think that these are not the right streets. The most important street is Park Road where i live and where Avanti is based. This is supposed to be road that parents walk up, no cars as in the original agreement between the Steiner Academy and Somerset County Council. Parents are supposed to walk their children. But instead it is mayhem, double parking, driveways blocked, cars treating up the road in a hurry

2. How can these streets be made more attractive for walking and cycling for everyone? Where are the Opportunities?

They’re need to be car park based drop off points and Avanti need to put on school buses, that way people may regain their confidence to walk

3. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about travel to and in the area?

Resident parking restriction in WEymouth Road are forcing more and more people into Park Road, we need to look at the problem holistically

1. What stops you from walking or cycling more to and on these streets? Where are the issues?

Speeding cars often zoom up Nunney Rd way past 30 mph making it unsafe for walkers and cyclists!I think a creation of a 20 zone might be a good idea around the school streets.

2. How can these streets be made more attractive for walking and cycling for everyone? Where are the Opportunities?

Lower the speed to 20mph.It seems like a really difficult problem to tackle because many people need their cars to get to work and so banning them just isn’t practical.I think slowing down the traffic is sadly the only workable solution.

3. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about travel to and in the area?

I often cycle but don’t feel safe because many car drivers are very impatient.Perhaps more education about driving safely is needed and more prosecutions for people who endanger the lives of cyclists!

Why is travel thorugh the 2 town parks and the walkway opposite the park gates in Weymouth Road not being used as part of the School Street, rather than the lower part or Somerset Road
