I think higher backway down to Coombe Street will get increasinly congested with this scheme and there needs to be a drop off zone on the high street to stop cars heading up Coombe Street, into Tolbury Mill and Higher Backway

Whilst I agree with the proposed Streets trial, I feel the real problem point in Combe Street and that side of Higher Backway. Traffic coming into the the parking there causes an issue for children heading to school.

• My driveway backs onto the narrowest part of the walking to the current school route for school children. I am extremely concerned about the dangers for the children. There is no pavement and the road is so narrow that Cars regularly narrowly miss children walking in their path. It’s a matter of time until an accident happens. I see this daily.

This proposal will not make a difference to the safety of the children as it does not address the congested area!! This zone would only work in conjunction with a 15mins park and wait zone on the high street, so parents can can park at the bottom of the hill on the high street, walk up the Barton to the school and into the car free zone. This would work really well as more parents wouldn’t then try and drive into the narrow and very congested east side of higher backway
